Take That to play Princess Diana memorial concert

Take That have confirmed they will play at the forthcoming Princess Diana memorial concert at London's Wembley Stadium. The band, who reunited in 2005 to massive acclaim, have been added to a bill for the show, which takes place on July 1.

Other artists already confirmed to play include Rod Stewart, Kanye West, Lily Allen, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Pharrell Williams and Sir Elton John. The show marks the tenth anniversary of the Princess' death in a Paris car crash. The gig will also mark what would have been the her 46th birthday.

Take That singer Mark Owen told BBC News: "Diana was an inspiration to so many people and we feel privileged to have met her." He added: "We decided we wanted to do anything we could to help make Diana's concert one of the highlights of the summer." The first 22,500 tickets sold out in minutes when they went on sale in December and another 10,000 tickets were released last week. The show, organised by Diana's sons Prince William and Prince Harry, will be broadcast live in over 140 countries.

Blur to finally reunite with Coxon?

Alex James has again fuelled hopes Blur will reunite with Graham Coxon, insisting the foursome will be hitting the studio this summer. The bassist claims they want to give it one last try together - and if the reunion doesn't work out they will simply go their separate ways."We're all heading into the studio together this summer - Graham's coming too," he told Dotmusic. "We're gonna see if we've still got it. If not, I think we'll just call it a day."Should their time in the studio go to plan, the ensuing recording will be the first since Blur's 2003 release 'Think Tank' - the sessions for which famously saw Coxon quit the band for good. His former bandmates Alex James, Damon Albarn and Dave Rowntree finished it off without him.Alex James - the self-confessed "second drunkest member of the drunkest band in Britain" - is releasing an autobiography, 'Bit Of A Blur', later this year.
